Game of Thrones Season 1

On January 16, 2007 HBO has taken an option on the Game of Thrones project by David Benioff and DB Weiss, which allows the development of a pilot script started. In October 2008 HBO struck her option and ordered a pilot episode a few weeks later.

On March 2, 2010 HBO gave the official green light for the production of Game of Thrones season 1. The recordings for the first season took place between 23 July and 18 December 2010. On 17 April 2011, the series premiered on the American HBO went. The first season consists of 10 episodes and is based on the first book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series, A Game of Thrones.
The majority of the filming took place in Northern Ireland and Malta. The Paint Hall studio in Belfast served as home base. Season 1 had a budget of $ 60 million, similar to the HBO series Rome.

Season 1 of Game of Thrones was on March 5, 2012 in the United States and the United Kingdom released on DVD and Blu-Ray.
